Obatanga

A Boreal Canoe Adventure
Obatanga Provincial Park, ON

In May of 2017, we ventured to Obatanga Provincial Park, a non-operating provincial park north of Wawa Ontario. Rainy, windy and cloudy, but still a great adventure. Despite it's non-operational status, permits are still required for backcountry use. For permits, contact White Lake Provincial Park: https://www.ontarioparks.com/park/whitelake

Our route had us depart Hammer Lake and journey down the Dog (University River) before entering Obatanga and Knife Lakes. From there, we journeyed up Knife creek tot he old park headquarters and campground on Burnfield Lake. There are a few other lakes to explore, notably we got into Heart Lake this Thanksgiving (hands down most scenic lake in the area).
